Arpad Elo
Professor Arpad Elo is famous for his rating system, which has become standard world-wide. Few realize that Professor Elo was also instrumental in creating the US Chess Federation. Professor Elo was the president of the American Chess Federation, which merged with the National Chess Federation of the USA to form the US Chess Federation in 1939. A copy of the ACF Yearbook belonged to Professor Elo, and was personally presented by him to the Hall of Fame at the USCF's 50th anniversary banquet in 1989.
